Dear academic community, colleagues and friends!
2020 has been a very challenging year, and cast a spotlight on the role of science in national political decision-making, as well as catalysed the formulation of clear common global priorities and priority tasks for scientists.
The global scientific community has gained in marshalling resources to combat the multifarious consequences of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. In the coming year, the only way to bring about the long-anticipated positive developments, and ultimate victory, in combatting COVID-19 will be through continued international cooperation and exchanges of information and experts.
