At the present turbulent times and afterwards, affected by the corona virus, the unprecedented approaches and decision-making in all spheres of socio-economic growth are needed. Scientific community is the only valuable resource in EU and the Baltic States to help the governments in formulating optimal answers to new visions in changing policies, governing structures, businesses and universities.

Results from the L’Oréal Baltic For Women in Science Fellowship Programme 2019

Dr. Pharm. Marina Makrecka - Kuka is the only scientist to whom the L'Oréal Baltc scholarship has been awarded twice. In 2014, the L'Oréal scholarship was awarded to Marina as a doctoral student at Riga Stradins University. This scholarship opened up a possibility of conducting research at the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis. She became a leading researcher at the Institute in 2017, and the scholarship was awarded to her for the second time in 2019 for her research on "Acylcarnitines, mitochondrial fitness and  immunometabolism: novel target for healthy aging".

Cooperation Agreement between the Latvian Academy of Sciences and the Ukrainian Academy of Political Science Signed

Conference “Innovation – Power of the 21st Century”

On 24-26th February, the Latvian Academy of Sciences together with the University of Latvia launched a conference "Innovation - Power of the 21st Century", the discussion forums and the innovation camp of the international project Smart-up Baltic Sea Region. The conference was organized by the Latvian Academy of Sciences and the University of Latvia with the support from the Ministry of Education and Science and Ministry of Economics. The patron of the event is the President of Latvia (1999-2007) Vaira Vike-Freiberga.
